Frannie Slabonik is a 1981 graduate from Susquehanna Township High School, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Ms. Slabonik continued her education at West Chester University where she earned a Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education, Class of 1985.
Presently Ms. Slabonik resides in Sussex County, Milton, Delaware. She was employed as an elementary school physical education teacher, JH Field Hockey and Bowling coach with Eastern Lebanon County School District, Myerstown, Pennsylvania. Retired June 2020.
As a member of the United States Field Hockey Association, Ms. Slabonik has served as assistant manager of the training site for the 1996 Olympic hockey competition, NGB Commissioner in Colorado USOF ’95, Assistant Commissioner in St. Louis USOF ’94, and Fields and Equipment Manager in San Antonio USOF ’93. Ms. Slabonik has participated in USFHA Events Committees since 1992. Events include the National Hockey Festival, National Indoor Tournaments, Junior Four Nation Tournament, and most USFHA sponsored events. Ms. Slabonik served as the Director of Events for USFHA 1999 – 2004.
Ms. Slabonik also served the Lancaster/Lebanon Chapter as a P.I.A.A. Official since 1988 and has been USFHA member Umpire since 1989. Mid-Atlantic Field Hockey Camp has been her “summer” home since 1980 as a camper, junior counselor, coach, assistant director, and currently camp director.
Melissa is currently the head field hockey coach for Stetson Middle School in West Chester, PA. Melissa attended John Dickinson HS in Delaware and is a graduate of West Chester University ‘94. She is a former club player who has had the opportunity to play in both Germany and Barbados. Melissa has coached high school field hockey and lacrosse in Delaware as well as worked as an assistant coach for both sports at Widener University in Chester, PA.
In the 1990s, Melissa worked as a coach at Mid Atlantic Camp before moving to San Diego, CA where she met and married her husband Dan. After recently relocating to West Chester, PA, she has eagerly returned to camp and is very enthusiastic about its success!
Melissa has a son, Cooper and daughter, Samantha.
